The main event of the first day of Tallinn Fashion Week was the Golden Needle gala This year’s best fashion designer and Golden Needle award recipient was EBS alumnus Kriss Soonik.
The Tallinn City scholarship was awarded to five EBS students – Stina-Simona Epner, Raido Hallik, Ergi Asten, Anna Chekryshova and Kristiina Esop.
In May, the Tallinn City Government awarded scholarships to outstanding students, including five EBS students: Lisette Lindhardt Jespersen, Rauno Pello, Minni Luuk, Leen Veering and Maarja Värav.
For the first time in Estonia, an influential international research conference, the European Group for Organizational Studies Colloquium (EGOS), was held in Tallinn at the Estonian National Opera, with EBS being the organiser and host in Estonia. The EGOS Colloquium brought in Tallinn the best social and organisational researchers: Tor Hernesi, Mark de Ronde, William Ocasio, Ann Langley, Renate Meyer, Nelson Phillips, Paul Adler and David Ravasi.
The 2000 participants included those representing some of the world’s most prestigious universities and research institutions, such as Harvard University and Copenhagen Business School, as well as major publishers of scientific journals, such as Oxford University Press and Cambridge University Press. The EGOS conference organised by EBS was awarded the title Conference of the Year 2018.
The Baltic Management Development Association (BMDA) awarded EBS the Innovativeness Award for outstanding innovation in EBS’ curricula and use of learning methods, as well as in its day-to-day activities.
EBS won the best presentation award at the Entrepreneurship Educators conference in the UK. The team of EBS and the University of Tartu, consisting of Marge Täks (EBS) and Elina Kallas (University of Tartu), was declared the best team in its block.
Following a quality check of EPAS’ accrediation, EBS’ English-language baccalaureate programme in International Business Management was awarded one of the world’s highest recognitions for excellence in business schools, a recognition that no other Estonian university has.
In Estonia’s biggest business idea competition ‘Brain Hunt’, Pagerr, a success story in the printing world, was the winner, while Aligner, which develops a translation platform, came second. Several EBS alumni and students were part of the team of both companies.
The Board of the Estonian Business School gave Professor Arno Almann the title of Rector Emeritus. Professor Almann has been working at EBS since 1997 and has been the Rector of EBS for eight years.
In the Royals Cup, one of the biggest international sporting competitions for universities, each participating university put together a team of 20 members from its home country to run together. During the charity competition week, EBS’ runners covered a total of 2042.26 kilometres, which was enough to secure first place.
The Senate of the Estonian Business School gave Professor Olav Aarna the title of Professor Emeritus. Professor Aarna has been working at EBS since 2000 and has been the Rector of EBS for three years.
An article by EBS’ doctoral student Piret Masso won the best article award at the joint summer school of Estonian economics doctoral students.
Emerald Literati Awards 2023 honoured former EBS lecturer and doctoral student Hala Abdelgaffar for her doctoral thesis ‘A review of responsible management education: practices, outcomes, and challenges’, published in the Journal of Management Development.
At the Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation Development Day in Tallinn, organisations from the public, private and third sectors declared their willingness to work together to develop their respective fields of activity. EBS was among the 22 signatory organisations.
At the conference held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, on 22-23 September, the presentation ‘Life satisfaction and tax preferences in transition economies’ by EBS’ doctoral student Gaygysyz Ashyrovi (with Luca Andriani) won the Best Paper Award in Transition 2022.
At the 30th anniversary conference ‘Woman as Creator of Future’ of the Business and Professional Women Organisation in Estonia, EBS’ alumna and doctoral student Kerli Ats was chosen as Young Female Entrepreneur of the Year.
The EBS’ in-school step competition organised in collaboration with the FitSphere application was won by Eve Lamberg (834,130 steps), Kadi Truuleht (746,375 steps) came second and Tiia Maria Reimal (681,715 steps) came third.
EBS was awarded the quality label ‘Recognised Internship System 2023-2027’ by the Education and Youth Board in the framework of the project ‘Recognition of the internship process in vocational and higher education’.
Sofia Blokhin, 12th grade student at EBS High School, won the European Junior Rapid Chess Champion title at the European Youth Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship held in Slovenia. She was awarded a silver medal in blitz chess and a bronze medal in the G-18 women’s team rapid chess competition with Marina Levchenko.
